Has anyone purchased a hard shelled cargo carrier for thr roof rails? I hv looked at a few just hvn't decided on which is sturdier. Any thots? Is thr one specifically designed for Traverse, or r they all universal?

It depends on how much you use it. I only use mine on big camping trips so I just bought a cheaper Cargo Box.

If you use it more often I would buy one of the higher priced hard shell ones.

This is what I have it works fine for us.

Thule and Yakima are some popular options. There are also  cheap ones on ebay.
